It’s not really news, but Thiago Silva is soon to be out of contract once Paris Saint-Germain’s run in the Champions League ends, and he will need to find himself a new club.
Ever since it was announced the Brazilian would be leaving, Everton were thrown into the mix as potential suitors for the veteran, such is his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti following their latest time together at the French club.
There was a claim the Italian would ‘gladly embrace him again’, but nothing more ever came of it, perhaps because there was a need to focus on the rest of the current campaign.
With that now over, or close to being so, it’s time for Silva to think about his future again, and Calciomercato report on Thursday that both Everton and Fiorentina have contacted the player’s entourage ‘to ask for information’.
It’s not explained what that entails, but our guess would be to find out whether or not he would be interested in a move to Goodison Park and, if so, what his demands would be to make a reunion with Ancelotti come true.
Either way, he won’t be cheap wage wise (he’s currently on €7m/year), but that could be a sacrifice worth making for his experience and what he could bring to a young squad, even if it is just for a season or, at a push, two.
