Needing to eventually replace an ageing pair of Phil Jagielka and Ashley Williams, Everton are looking after the future of their defence if the latest claims from Corriere dello Sport are to be believed.

According to the Italian newspaper, the Toffees are interested in signing Inter Milan’s Jeison Murillo, who has been named as one of the likely exits in what could be a busy summer for the Serie A club.

Readying a revolution over the coming months, steered by Luciano Spalletti at the helm, the Italians need to make some money in order to balance out their spending, and the Colombian is on the list of those they can do without.

This appears to be the club’s alternative way of making the €30m required to meet FFP regulations by the 30th of June after their initial idea of selling Ivan Perisic to Manchester United was stopped by Luciano Spalletti, who asked for the Croatian star to remain at the club.

This means the likes of Ever Banega, Jeison Murillo and Marcelo Brozovic could all be sold to make up the necessary money, hence the interest from the Premier League.

Everton could certainly do a lot worse than the Colombia international, especially if he’s available at a relatively modest price before the end of the month.

Over the course of the season, the 25-year-old made 34 appearances for Inter Milan, scoring one goal and picking up one assist.
