Inter Milan signed Joao Mario from Sporting in 2016 and he played under three managers, Frank de Boer, Stefano Pioli and Stefano Vecchi in his debut season at the San Siro.
Luciano Spalletti took charge of the Nerazzurri last summer and the Portuguese international saw his first team appearances being limited in the first half of the season. The Italian outfit allowed the midfielder join West Ham United on loan in January.
Mario made 13 appearances in the league for the Hammers, scoring two goals and registering an assist in the process. The 25-year-old has set his sights on leaving Inter this summer as he wants to continue in the Premier League.
Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web claims Everton have ‘carried out a poll’ to take Mario out of Inter, who has three years left on his contract with his current employer. That will mean Everton have made contact to find out the conditions of a transfer.
The Serie A player is represented by Kia Joorabchian and the midfielder’s agent is working towards finding ‘accommodation for the player’, preferably in England.
