An unnamed agent authorised by Everton has arrived in Istanbul to negotiate with Galatasaray regarding Barış Alper Yılmaz.

Journalist Ertan Süzgün, via Haber Sari Kirmizi, reports that the Everton authorised agent is in Türkiye for transfer talks regarding the winger.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Everton over the last week. A report this week stated that a €35m offer had already been turned down. The belief in Türkiye is that a second bid is on the way soon.

Now Süzgün reports that an agent has travelled to Istanbul for talks, after being authorised to do so by Everton.

“An agent authorised by Everton has arrived in Istanbul regarding Barış Alper Yılmaz,” he said.

“Galatasaray wants to see a concrete offer on the table rather than just a verbal one. No official offer has been received yet.”

The agent’s arrival does not feel coincidental by any means, though. Alongside reports of Everton’s bid for Barış Alper Yılmaz, Galatasaray are making their own moves.

Galatasaray targeting replacements

According to Süzgün, the Turkish side are now making serious efforts to sign Rafa Leao from AC Milan.

“Regarding the Leao transfer, Fenerbahçe’s initial plan was to acquire him on a permanent transfer, whereas Galatasaray’s initial plan was a loan deal,” he added.

“Things have taken a different turn now. Galatasaray made an offer of €30m. To my knowledge, the second offer is now around €40m.”

Transfer pieces falling into place

A bid like that would suggest Galatasaray not only believe that they will soon have money to spend, but also that they need to replace Yilmaz in the first place. Leao is not the only name on their list either.

Journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports that Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli is also on their shortlist. They are, obviously, in the market for a left-winger. And that adds further belief to the idea that Yilmaz is on his way out.

The Toffees are being linked with multiple left wingers, too. Jonathan Rowe at Bologna is another option.

With an agent representing Everton now in Istanbul for talks, there’s every chance a move to Merseyside is progressing.
