Everton and Salernitana are set to have a new round of talks for the transfer of Boulaye Dia, according to reports from Italy.
Outlet Tutto Salernitana today writes that the Toffees ‘asked’ the Serie A side’s sports director Morgan De Sanctis for a meeting to discuss the matter.
It’s said Everton decided not to pay the €25m from the player’s release clause, and now consider the possibility of including a player in the deal.
That would be Neal Maupay, whom Salernitana ‘like a lot’. He was already ‘one step away’ from joining the club last summer, when they were ready to pay €10m for his signing.
Their interest in the player is only in case Dia actually leaves the club, so that would basically be the perfect situation for the exchange, especially because they’d profit from the operation.
It’s claimed that the transfer would need to be done in the coming ten days, or Salernitana will no longer be interested in negotiating their striker.
Now it remains to be seen how much will Everton put on the table, added to the transfer of Maupay.
