Everton have joined the race for Club Brugge goalkeeper Senne Lammens and want to sign him in this transfer window.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, who say the Blues do not want to wait until the summer transfer window when the player will be available on a free.
The newspaper explains that Lammens, who is currently the back up to Simon Mignolet at Brugge, is in ‘high demand’ and especially in England.
Leeds are interested in getting him in the summer transfer window, with their interest widely covered over the last few weeks, but now ‘there is also Everton’.
They have reportedly ‘approached’ Club Brugge about a potential transfer and ‘want to attract him’ as early as this month.
The Blues could be facing an overhaul of their goalkeeping department, with Jordan Pickford continuing to be linked with a move away and number two Asmir Begovic also reportedly receiving offers from the Middle East.
Lammens would presumably be a replacement for the latter, but it appears Everton may need to convince him on the move.
Het Nieuwsblad report that he wants to be the number one somewhere and there is a doubt he could do that a club like Everton, at least in the short to medium term, particularly with Pickford still at the club.
He faces a similar problem in Belgium, where several big clubs are interested in him but cannot guarantee a starting spot.
Brugge would like to keep him but have already signed a replacement and so if he is to leave it would preferably be this month so they can still ‘catch something’ for him.
That would seemingly put Everton ahead of Leeds as they are willing to pay, but it seems Lammens needs talking into it.
