Dating back to last season, Everton’s interest in Udinese’s Beto has been widely reported in the Italian media, with the Toffees making a late bid for the forward in January.
That was turned down, and the Goodison Park side finished that transfer window without signing anyone, and were somewhat fortunate to avoid the drop to the Championship once again.
Everton will now try to bolster as best they can in the summer window while navigating murky FFP waters, but it appears, according to Tutto Udinese, that Beto is no longer on their agenda.
The outlet state that Napoli are eyeing up the Portuguese forward in case they were to sell Victor Osimhen, and are looking to buy him, having already made a €20m offer.
That’s €10m less than what Udinese want, with the Serie A side in ‘no hurry to sell’, and they know others might come knocking.
It won’t be Everton, though, who appear to have moved onto Viktor Gyokeres, currently at Coventry City, and the Italian website claim ‘there is currently no news’ from Goodison Park regarding a bid for Beto.
