Everton and Celtic are considering moves for Red Star defender Veljko Milosavljevic, with both clubs sending scouts to watch his performances.
That’s according to Kurir, who report that Everton and Celtic are ‘closely monitoring’ the 17-year-old defender.
They state that officials from Everton and Celtic have been scouting Red Star’s Super League games for a while. He shone in the derbies against Partizan, performances which ‘made more than a positive impression’ according to Kurir.
Their belief is that Everton are interested thanks to ‘problems’ they have in their defence this season, with James Tarkowski out injured and Jared Branthwaite and Jake O’Brien the current central pairing.
They also have Michael Keane, but he’s set to depart in the summer and the belief is that the Toffees would welcome ‘fresh blood’. Thus, they are tracking Milosavljevic with interest.
Celtic are not in a similar position but are continuing to build under Brendan Rodgers again and adding young competition, with a potentially higher future sale price, wouldn’t be an opportunity they want to miss out on.
Veljko Milosavljevic is considered a ‘real treasure’ by Red Star and they are more than aware of his rising value and the interest in him. In fact, a recent study had him as the highest rated young Serbian footballer.
He’s already valued at around €3.9m and has a contract until 2027, so there is no need for them to sell right now. In fact, they believe they could make a lot more money in two or three years.
Everton and Celtic are watching him closely, though, and could look to move this summer to get him ahead of the competition in future.
