Everton have seen a €25m offer for Napoli midfielder Allan rejected, but the Italian side are open to a sale.
Allan has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli for the last six months, having found himself out of favour since Gennaro Gattuso’s arrival at the club.
That has not helped an already fractured relationship with the club, which has been deteriorating since a failed move to Paris Saint Germain last year.
Everton have long been named as suitors and were said to have made several attempts to reunite him with manager Carlo Ancelotti.
A move never happened, but the rumours have not decreased since then, with a report from Il Mattino claiming today that the midfielder was the ‘express wish’ of the Italian manager.
The same report indicated that the Blues had an ‘offer ready’ this summer, although it wasn’t made clear what price they were looking to pay or if negotiations had been started.
What the newspaper did ascertain was that the Toffees would have to match Aurelio de Laurentiis’ €40m asking price to get their man this summer.
It seems, though, they’ve already had an offer for the Brazilian turned down, with Sky Sport journalist Luca Marchetti revealing all during an appearance on Marte Sport Live.
“Can Elmas leave? I really don’t think he’s out, we don’t know,” he told the station, relayed by Il Napoli Online.
“His future will be in Naples. Napoli has invested a lot, the player was wanted by Carlo Ancelotti, but Gennaro Gattuso is also appreciated.
“Allan? He can go away: Napoli would sell him, but they will not undersell him. The 25 million offered by Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton is too low.
“Elmas could also replace him in the role: it has significant growth margins and can cover different positions of the midfield.”
