Everton’s chase for Newcastle United winger Yankuba Minteh gets an update from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Sky Sport reporter claims that the Toffees already have an agreement with the player, who spent the last season on loan at Feyenoord.
The problem is the competition from Lyon, who are offering Newcastle €40m for the transfer.
Di Marzio doesn’t bring any details on how much Everton are putting on the table, but since the French side are an obstacle, the Toffees seem to be bidding less.
The journalist also points out that Newcastle are in need of a sale before the end of the month, having already turned down offers for Alexander Isak.
That means there’s pressure for them to accept an offer, and all that pressure seems to give Lyon an advantage in the race.
With Everton having a personal agreement with Minteh, it’s now up to them to find an amount which can be accepted by the Magpies.
The winger, who had 11 goals and six assists in 37 appearances last season, is currently valued by Transfermarkt at just €16m.
