Everton, according to Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday, are considering making a move for an Italy U18 international.
The player in question is Samuele Mulattieri, who currently plies his trade with Spezia’s U19s and scored 13 goals in 19 Primavera 2a games last season.
His performances for the youth team even earned three Serie B appearances for the first team towards the end of the season, even managing to get on the scoresheet in a 3-2 loss to Pescara.
The talented attacking midfielder has since attracted interest from Juventus, who have put in an offer, Inter, and the Toffees. The Italian newspaper state Everton could sign Mulattieri for ‘free’, simply paying Spezia a compensation fee.
This is due to the fact the 17-year-old has yet to put pen to paper on a professional contract.
Who is in the lead to sign him isn’t revealed, but the fact Inter are said to have ‘made a move early’ would suggest they are.
Either way, Everton appear to be keen, and we’ll see what happens going forward.
