After a 1-0 defeat in the first leg against Barcelona at Old Trafford, Manchester United suffered a 3-0 loss in the return leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash at the Camp Nou on Tuesday.

On April 17th, we covered what the Catalan media had to say about the players of the visiting team following their latest defeat.

It looks like they are not done with criticising the Red Devils as Sport takes a dig at two United stars – David de Gea and Paul Pogba – in today’s edition of the newspaper.

The goalkeeper’s error allowed Ernesto Valverde’s side to double the lead.

De Gea was mocked on social media for the slip up, and Sport claims ‘no one deserves to be mocked for their work, but in the case of the Manchester United goalkeeper it is true that when it rains, it pours.’

The Catalan publication reminds their readers of the keeper’s poor performance for Spain at the 2018 World Cup and a dip in form since then, when representing the national team.

They further go on to say that only Manchester United and their fans were happy with De Gea, at least until Tuesday, and also stress that he was made into a star, even before he was ready for it.

Sport points this down to ‘good press’ and De Gea’s skilled representatives who created ‘excessive expectations’.

Moving on Pogba, Sport claim the World Cup winner is an ‘absolutely overrated’ figure at Old Trafford and believe his media profile is down to his manipulating agent, who is well connected.

However, the agents of Pogba or De Gea couldn’t help them on the pitch and the report explains their performances against Barcelona over two legs is evidence of them being overrated.
