Juventus could be interested in a deal for Newcastle United striker Chris Wood, as they eye up Moise Kean.
That’s the interesting claim from Juve Dipendenza today, who name the European giants as surprise contenders for Woods’ signature.
They explain that Kean is earning interest after reviving himself at Juventus over the last month or so, with a series of impressive performances before the break for the World Cup.
That has apparently earned him new interest from the Premier League, and Newcastle are one of those who seemingly have ‘their eye on the youngster’.
Juventus would want someone in to replace him, though, and so that could lead to a ‘sensational exchange’ for Wood.
That deal would ‘certainly be well liked’ by manager Massimiliano Allegri, who would like the striker’s ‘imposing physique’ and consider it perfect for the Bianconeri’s style of play.
He could be the perfect back up for Dusan Vlahovic and benefit from Juve’s crossing based game. In fact, the Old Lady ‘would really need a guy’ as skilled as Wood is in the air.
Hence the potential swap deal with Newcastle if they decide to make a move for Moise Kean following his resurgence.
The problem is, we’ve seen this rumour before, albeit in a different package. Last month saw a claim that Newcastle were interested in Kean and could swap Allan Saint Maximin.
That came from the same source, who seemed determined to get Kean to Newcastle and send someone the other way.
It means we will have to take this dubious claim with a giant pinch of salt, although we’re happy to eat extremely humble pie if Chris Wood does ever rock up in Turin.
