Last month, we covered a claim from Brazil that Nottingham Forest have initiated contact to sign Flamengo star Pedro Guilherme. It was also said the Brazilian club have demanded over €30m to sanction his sale.
The Tricky Trees aren’t the only English club chasing the 26-year-old as West Ham United are also in the mix.
That’s according to AS, who mention Nottingham Forest and West Ham when explaining Benfica’s interest in the striker.
The Eagles have identified the 26-year-old as the main target to replace Gonçalo Ramos, who has completed a move to Paris Saint-Germain. Their officials would have made a trip to Brazil to try and close the deal for Pedro.
Benfica could find it complicated to carry out the deal because Flamengo aren’t ready to sell their star for a ‘bargain price’, and due to the competition from European clubs like Steve Cooper’s side and West Ham.
It’s stated Pedro has received interest ‘especially from Nottingham Forest and West Ham’, and unnamed clubs from Spain and Italy.
If David Moyes’ side and Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Pedro, they would have to step up their efforts to get ahead of Benfica in the transfer race. AS state the latter are expected to carry out negotiations this week.
The player has 22 goals and four assists from 36 games this year. After a disappointing spell at Fiorentina, AS say Pedro has ‘earned a second chance’ to return to Europe and where he’ll end up remains to be seen.
