Chelsea could be set for a battle with former manager Antonio Conte for Borussia Dortmund star Serhou Guirassy this summer.

That’s according to journalist Maurizio Russo, who reports that the Premier League are focused on Guirassy and ‘especially Chelsea’.

The striker has been in fine form for Dortmund this season, with 28 goals and nine assists in all competitions to date.

He’s been in particularly fine form in the Champions League, with 13 goals and five assists in 14 games and a hattrick in the 3-1 win over Barcelona on Tuesday.

That’s led to the big sides looking at him ahead of the summer and according to Russo, Chelsea are one of them.

He reports on the interest from Napoli and Antonio Conte, who wants him last summer despite also signing Romelu Lukaku. He was also in AC Milan’s sights and Juventus, and they are all sides to watch out for this summer.

However, the Premier League ‘is the favourite’ and ‘especially Chelsea’, who are in desperate need of a new striker for their squad. The Blues, and other suitors, would need to match his €70m release clause.

Whether they are willing to do so remains to be seen but they’re in the mix and the Premier League is currently considered the more likely destination.
