Erik ten Hag remains out of work since his Manchester United exit in October. The Dutch manager had been expected by many to be shown the Old Trafford door last summer.
However, the FA Cup win appeared to have an influence on decision makers at the Premier League club. Ten Hag got an extension and was again backed in the transfer market.
That didn’t work out the way everyone at club will have hoped and Manchester United were 14th in the Premier League when Ten Hag was given his marching orders.
Since then the manager has been linked with a number of roles, ahead of potentially taking over a new club at the end of the current season.
Now he’s one of the candidates for the upcoming Bayer Leverkusen vacancy. Xabi Alonso is set to depart the Bundesliga club in the coming months, and could be taking over at Real Madrid.
Kicker report Ten Hag and Xavi are ‘hot candidates’.
Ten Hag speaks German, having been a coach at Bayern Munich earlier in his career, and is thought to be the number one candidate.
