Tottenham defender Pedro Porro has detailed how Eric Dier helped him establish himself at the club following his move from Sporting Club de Portugal in January.
The full-back has been speaking to AS in Spain about his move to Tottenham earlier this year, his first time in the Premier League.
Porro joined Tottenham in a €45m deal from Sporting in January on an initial loan deal that has been made a permanent one this month.
He arrived after impressing in Portugal with Sporting, putting in a series of impressive performances for the Portuguese side in the league and Champions League.
The move was technically his second to England having joined Manchester City from Girona earlier in his career, but he failed to make an appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side and instead moved on loan to Spain before a permanent switch.
It means his move to Tottenham was a big change for him and one that has needed plenty of adjustment and adaptation in the last few months.
Fortunately, he had a teammate who had made the exact same change in Eric Dier, and Porro says he was more than happy to help out.
“It has been beautiful and exciting and at the same time a bit difficult for me,” he said.
“Arriving in a new country and in a different league takes time to adapt but I am quite satisfied. At the beginning it was difficult because of the language.
“I was helped by Eric Dier, who knows Portuguese from his time at Sporting. Now it’s up to me to keep giving 100% to keep taking steps forward.”
