Enzo Fernandez’s transfer to Chelsea cannot be ruled out yet, according to reports from Portugal.
A story from newspaper O Jogo comes up to say that despite the recent setbacks in the talks between the Blues and Benfica, the midfielder’s move to the Stamford Bridge is still ‘not off the table’.
It’s claimed that even though Chelsea did not return to the negotiations since those recent events, they ‘admit’ they could do it soon.
This time, however, it’s even clearer that Benfica will not let Fernandez go for less than €120m.
O Jogo recalls that before Christmas, Chelsea offered €127m for the transfer.
Then they took a step back and made a different offer, willing to pay €90m, plus €10m in bonuses, also sending Hakim Ziyech on a permanent move, with Andrey Santos and Datro Fofana on loan.
Despite that making Benfica angry, agent Jorge Mendes is said to be still keeping an ‘open line of communication’ for a potential deal.
However, since there’s no longer that big expectation about the move, Enzo Fernandez is set to rejoin the Eagles’ squad and start playing normally, overcoming all that madness from the first days of the year.
