In the last summer transfer window, Aston Villa loaned out Enzo Barrenechea to Valencia right after the midfielder had arrived from Juventus.

The 23-year-old has played 13 games in La Liga and has picked up some experience. He was called up to the Argentine national squad back in November, but that was an odd situation with his performances not really justifying that and him not even making the bench.

Quotidiano Sportivo have reported that Bologna are interested in bringing the midfielder back to Italy and the situation could be linked to Samuel Iling-Junior, who was loaned out to the Serie A side in the summer transfer window by Aston Villa.

It is suggested that due to the uncertain future of Iling-Junior, there is an ‘open’ conversation between the Villans and Bologna.

For now, Unai Emery’s side are not interested in bringing Barrenechea back and loaning him out once again. Even Valencia are not working to cut his loan stint short this month, needing all the bodies they can get right now.

The report also indicates Iling-Junior is quite keen on an exit from Bologna, and that’s perhaps the likelier move here.
