On October 17th, we covered a claim from Germany explaining that Liverpool have been added to the list of clubs chasing Schalke’s Assan Ouédraogo.

A day later, Calciomercato stated the Reds are already courting the 17-year-old, and could provide competition to AC Milan and others to sign him.

Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly Twitter, to claim that Eintracht Frankfurt have joined Liverpool and several other clubs in the race for the young midfielder.

He says the Bundesliga side’s bosses have already asked about the player and are aware of the conditions needed to carry out the operation. In addition to this, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche has highly values the Germany U17 international.

Plettenberg then adds the youngster’s management are ‘in talks now’ with several clubs and the list includes Liverpool, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Napoli.

Ouédraogo, who has made 10 appearances for the second division German club, will not be eligible to arrive in the UK until he turns 18 years of age next May.

There’s no mention who’s currently ahead in the transfer chase and Jürgen Klopp’s side would have to overcome the fierce competition to sign the teenager.

Three days ago, Plettenberg stated Ouédraogo will have a €9-12m release clause for German clubs who will play in the European competition next season, and €7m for those who won’t.

If Ouédraogo were to make his debut for Germany before the end of this season, his clause would be set at €20m for all clubs.
