Philippe Coutinho’s agents are ‘pushing’ Arsenal and Tottenham to make a late bid for the Barcelona man as he nears a move to elsewhere.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Brazilian’s entourage are waiting for new suitors before finalising the move to Villa Park.
The newspaper explains that all of Barcelona’s efforts are currently focused on getting rid of Coutinho, who they are desperate to remove from the wage bill so they can register Ferran Torres.
Their hope is that his exit will be ‘imminent’ and can be finalised this week, and while progress is being made in negotiations with the other Premier League side, his agents are holding off.
The final decision rests with Coutinho, who wants to feel important again and have the ‘option of winning titles’. While the Villans have presented an ambitious project for the future, it’s felt the latter is more likely with the London clubs.
That is why his entourage are ‘pushing’ Tottenham and Arsenal to ‘take the step’ and present a firm offer to Barcelona.
The Catalans want everything to go as quickly as possible and find a deal that would include any club who takes Coutinho being tied to a compulsory purchase option.
Whether the Gunners or Spurs are willing to offer that isn’t clear, but his agents seem determined to hold off for as long as possible to try and get them into the game regardless.
