Four days ago, Bild reported Newcastle United are keen on signing 1. FC Nürnberg star Can Uzun in the summer.
On Friday, Ruhr Nachrichten stated the Magpies are set to provide competition to Borussia Dortmund in the race for the 18-year-old. It was also said Uzun is valued at €8m and that he’ll make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.
Fussball Transfers also claim Newcastle and the Bundesliga side are among the clubs to have shown interest in Uzun.
The Turkey U18 international has been deployed as an attacking midfielder and a striker this season, scoring 13 goals and registering three assists from 20 games for the second division German club.
Uzun’s deal lasts until 2027, but his future could be away from the club after this season. That’s at least what Nürnberg sporting director Dieter Hecking told Sky Deutschland on Friday.
“The probability that he’ll stay over the summer is relatively low. Clubs are lining up,” he said, relayed by Fussball Transfers.
Hecking hasn’t revealed details of the clubs that have lined up to sign the player but him indication that Uzun could leave will come as a boost for Newcastle Dortmund and other clubs who have shown interest in him.
