Aston Villa manager Unai Emery ‘would love’ to bring in Gerard Deulofeu from Udinese this month and the player ‘would love’ a return to England as well.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Spanish coach is eyeing a reunion with the player he had at Sevilla in 2014/15.
They explain that the market situation around Deulofeu ‘remains more than busy’ after weeks of speculation about a potential move.
So far, no official offers have arrived at Udinese, as confirmed by technical director Pierpaolo Marino recently and there is only ‘some interest’ at present.
The newspaper states that ‘strong are the English sirens’ and Aston Villa in particular are sending ‘seductive songs’ towards Italy and Udinese.
That’s because Emery would love to coach the player once again after working with him at Sevilla in 2014/15. Deulofeu would similarly like to enjoy a third spell in England after playing for Everton and Watford.
It seems, then, Aston Villa will have no issue convincing him, but first need to present an offer to Udinese to get the ball rolling.
Deulofeu has picked up a knee injury but it’s thought a transfer is still possible, and full tests haven’t yet been carried out.
