Towards the end of November, reports coming out Spain stated Aston Villa have showed interest in RCD Mallorca star Vedat Muriqi.
The striker has impressed for the La Liga side, scoring eight goals and managing one assist from 13 league matches this season.
Muriqi’s performances have convinced Unai Emery to make him the ‘leading striker’ at Aston Villa.
That’s according to Fichajes.net, who say the manager ‘once again insists on signing’ the 28-year-old in January. Muriqi is happy with his current employer, but they could be forced to sell the star if they receive a convincing offer.
Aston Villa’s last bid was around €20m, but it was rejected by Mallorca. They had referred to the Kosovo international’s €38m release clause.
The former Arsenal manager has reportedly asked Villa’s leaders to make a fresh effort to bring the frontman to England in the mid-season window The Premier League side could get close to an offer of €30m to please Emery.
Real Betis have identified Muriqi as a target, if Borja Iglesias were to move elsewhere this month. However, Aston Villa’s financial strength will distance the Mallorca attacker from Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
