Celtic are on the hunt for their second win in the Champions League this season, as they lock horns with Atalanta tomorrow.
They’ll want an improvement from their previous outing in the competition, which saw Brendan Rodgers side dismantled by Borussia Dortmund in a game that ended 7-1.
Celtic have now been handed a bit of encouragement ahead of their game against Atalanta.
During the press conference before the game, La Dea boss Gian Piero Gasperini spoke about a potential ‘emergency’ in the squad and that could lead to changes in the side against Celtic.
The Italian said, as relayed by Gianluca di Marzio: “We have to see and make some considerations about the injured players. We are certainly in an emergency in defence – Hien and Kolasinac are not well. Their conditions, assessable today, will determine the formation and defence tomorrow.”
This suggests Atalanta could line up slightly unusually against Celtic, who can take advantage of that when they attack.
Having said that, La Dea are a side that rely heavily on a specific playing style, which means that the general quality of the side stays high. They are no strangers to putting in dominant attacking performances at the highest stage either, as evident from their win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final earlier this year.
Celtic will have to be wary of that.
