Urby Emanuelson has revealed Sheffield Wednesday showed a lot of confidence in him after signing a contract with the Championship side. The Dutchman was a free agent after his contract expired with Hellas Verona.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Emanuelson said he took the decision to join Sheffield Wednesday because they were serious about signing him. He confirmed the English side have given him a good contract, which will put him among the highest earners at the club, and that the confidence they showed in him proves he isn’t taking a gamble.

“They offered me a good contract. I am equal in salary to the top group. Also they expressed confidence in me, so this is not a gamble,” said Sheffield Wednesday’s latest signing.

Emanuelson has spent most of career playing in Italy with AC Milan, Atalanta and more recently Hellas Verona. The 30-year-old had a brief spell in England when AC Milan loaned him out to Fulham for six months. The utility players has been capped 16 times by Holland.
