An unknown English Football League club have joined the race to sign Dundee forward Greg Stewart according to reports in the Scottish media. The 26-year-old is looking to find a new club this summer, and has already been linked with Leeds United and Birmingham City in this transfer window.
The Dundee Evening Telegraph has today reported an offer has been tabled from a club south of the border, but as yet the identity of the club hasn’t been disclosed. However, the bid has been rejected by the SPL club because they won’t let the player leave this summer for an offer under his valuation of £1.5m.
Stewart has just 12 months left on his contract with Dundee, and the Scottish club are prepared to let him leave on a free next summer rather than sell him on the cheap in this window.
Stewart has throughout this transfer window been linked with a move to the Championship after Leeds United joined the race to sign the forward several weeks ago.
Blackburn Rovers have also been showing an interest, but it is Birmingham City who have in recent days stepped up their pursuit for Stewart.
An offer of £300k from Birmingham City was turned down by Dundee, but it’s expected they will go back in with an improved bid.
