Leicester City are keen on signing Real Betis midfielder Petros Matheus, reports AS.
Petros has a contract until 2019 at Real Betis, but AS believe he could be switching clubs in the next few ‘months or weeks’.
Real Betis’ sporting director Miguel Torrecilla is reportedly working with his agents over a new contract, but there are no guarantees if Petros will be signing it.
The Brazilian midfielder moved to Real Betis at the start of last season in a €1.5m deal from Corinthians. After a slow start to his career in Spain, Petros has been in impressive form this season for Real Betis and has featured regularly under both Gustavo Poyet and Víctor Sanchez.
At the moment, it remains to be seen if Leicester are genuinely keen on signing Petros, and if there is an urgency to complete the deal in January. Since Leicester won the Premier League their name has been used far more than previously by agents and those looking to raise the profile of players.
