Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United are all ready to make an ‘assault’ on Inter Milan for midfielder Nicolò Barella this summer.
That’s according to Inter Live, who say the midfielder is ‘in the grip’ of the Premier League trio who are all ready to make a ‘cash offer’ to secure his signature.
They explain that Barella ‘appeals to half of Europe’ after his performances this season and another fine display in the win over AC Milan in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.
He would like to remain with a Champions League club moving forwards and Inter are ready to sell him if they are offered ‘generous compensation’.
They need at least ‘€80m cash’ to sanction a deal, a figure they believe they can easily get given the money that is currently floating around the Premier League.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle are all believed to be ‘on his trail’ and ready to ‘sink the blow’ once the transfer window opens.
In terms of Chelsea, Inter Live say they are ready to continue spending to improve their midfield, despite a big outlay in that department in the last two windows.
Newcastle, meanwhile, are on the hunt for big name profiles to bolster their squad as they gear up for a year in the Champions League next season and have money to spend.
Liverpool, on the other hand, are dreaming of returning to their former best and need to completely reinvent their midfield, with several players departing and that area of the team having been identified as the major weak point this season.
All three are seen as a ‘good move’ for Barella but at the moment Inter have not yet made their position clear and will instead wait for an official offer to arrive before moving.
Barella is considered a key part of Simone Inzaghi’s plans, and he’d love to keep him, but financial issues at the club and the possibility of making a major profit are likely to overrule those desires.
