Rafael Leao is set to depart AC Milan, who are now looking towards Aston Villa to make a formal move.

Sport Witness have repeatedly covered claims from Italy about the attacker. Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign him, as have Manchester United.

So far, Spurs haven’t made in-roads, leaving Milan looking for new options.

The player has made his intentions about an exit clear. He feels his chapter at the Rossoneri is closed and wants to move on.

Now, it’s reported Aston Villa have stepped forward for the player.

€60m deal available

TuttoSport report that when Aston Villa spoke to Milan about Pervis Estupinan, Leao’s situation came up.

This led to the Birmingham club making exploratory contact for the Portugal man, who is keen on a move to England. He feels a switch to the Premier League is the natural next step and would be interested in moving to Aston Villa.

Milan aren’t opposed to his exit either. They are hoping Unai Emery’s side make a formal move, with the player valued at €60m.

At the same time, they have identified Kōnstantinos Karetsas as a possible replacement. Genk’s Greek talent costs €40m and money earned from Leao’s exit will hand them enough.

Our take: Leao could be a good signing

AC Milan are increasingly keen to sell. This will help Aston Villa, especially as no favourable suitors have emerged for Leao.

Emery’s side can take advantage of this and get a bargain. That €60m looks too high, and something around €40-45m should do it.

Leao would naturally replace Morgan Rogers and could also be an upgrade if he gets back to his best. At 27-years-of-age, he’s approaching his prime. A gamble, but maybe one worth taking… at the right price.
