At the weekend, we covered claims from Spain that Sevilla are looking to take advantage of Lamare Bogarde’s contract situation at Aston Villa in the summer window.

The La Liga side asked Aston Villa for the midfielder plus money in exchange for Loïc Badé in January. He rejected the Villans and Bogarde continued at the Premier League club.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC back that up and then provide the latest on Sevilla’s pursuit and Aston Villa’s stance.

They state Unai Emery refused to let the 21-year-old leave in the winter market, after the Andalusian club requested a loan signing.

Recent claims have stated Ajax are interested in Bogarde, who has just over 15 months left on his contract. Last week, the Netherlands U21 international confirmed the Eredivisie club have contacted his agent while Aston Villa have held renewal talks.

The Spanish outlet now claims Aston Villa have set a €5m asking price for Bogarde. They state this is ‘affordable’ for Sevilla, considering their finances, his profile, versatility [can also operate in defence] and potential.

They believe Aston Villa director Monchi’s ‘intermediation could be key’ for Sevilla to sign the Dutchman.

Sevilla have to act quickly because of Ajax’s interest, which has already been confirmed by the Aston Villa player.

Whether that €5m claim is correct or not remains to be seen,.
