Athletico Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams still doesn’t seem any excited with the possibility of changing clubs.
Much linked to a move to Liverpool lately, the player is frequently asked about his wish for the future, but insists he’s pretty happy where he is.
Speaking to Marca this week, he spoke about his current contract with Bilbao, which runs until 2022: “I am where I want to be and also very happy. The contract gives stability, but I am not a person who is satisfied with what has been achieved and I always aspire to have more. I want future renewals to keep coming”.
“I have always said, and I maintain, that I am where I want to be and that I am very happy in Bilbao. I do not want to change airs, my family is very comfortable here, my teammates are with me and my first choice will always be Athletic”.
Liverpool’s interest in signing Williams has become a thing for the Spanish press in the past few months. First it was Marca who said Jurgen Klopp had ‘reports on his table’ as the club would be considering a move for the Spaniard.
Then AS claimed Athletic Bilbao would make it as hard as possible to let the player go.
This would raise the price from €50m to about €75m. Maybe that’s why Williams isn’t so confident he’ll be moving soon.
