Kieron Bowie joined Hellas Verona from Hibs in January and he is already attracting attention from Celtic.
The striker has sparkled since moving to Italy. He has four goals in 13 Serie A games, finding the net against Inter Milan, Juventus and Bologna. He has showcased a nose for goal, scoring eight Premiership goals in the first half of the campaign too.
Whilst his stock has clearly gone up in a short time, his exploits haven’t quite stopped the rot at Verona. They are set to get relegated from Serie A and will finish a disappointing second-bottom in the league.
Verona see him as their future but Celtic can now change that.
Celtic interest floated
Verona-based outlet L’Arena – via TuttoHellasVerona, have reported on the Scotsman’s future at the Italian club.
They make it clear that Bowie is viewed as a key asset for next season by the Gialloblu. But they have a task on their hands to keep him away from possible suitors, especially considering the impression he has made in quick time.
He has now attracted Celtic’s attention as the Glasgow club look to signing a striker in the summer.
Bowie’s currently value is believed to be at €4m. This has dropped because of Verona’s relegation and this money can come in handy for them ahead of a campaign in Serie B. Even if the 23-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2030, the Hoops may not find difficulty in a permanent deal in the summer.
Celtic may not be the only keen, as things stand. Corriere Di Verona – via Tuttomercatoweb, have made it clear that Bologna are also interested and clubs in England and Germany can also come forward for the striker.
Need to hurry
Bowie is establishing himself as a proven goalscorer. Since Verona are going down, he will definitely attract clubs that have a bigger financial capacity than Celtic.
That is why the Hoops will have to hurry. Verona are a selling club and have been so for years. They won’t oppose a sale but will likely raise Bowie’s valuation by linking multiple clubs with him.
That will make Celtic’s task more difficult. Moreover, Verona paid €4m for Bowie in January. Selling him for a price less than that makes little sense, considering his contract runs out in 2030.
