Kevin Gameiro has been one of the strikers repeatedly linked to Everton since the summer transfer window closed.

It’s increasingly obvious that Everton need to sign another quality striker, and it’s something Ronald Koeman even pointed out before the season started.

Gameiro’s situation at Atletico Madrid is set to get a lot more difficult once Diego Costa is able to play from January onward, and Vitolo will also provide attacking competition.

On Tuesday, Spanish newspaper AS said Gameiro is a possible Atletico exit in January, and that Everton are ‘very interested’ in the Frenchman.

On Wednesday, Marca point out that Diego Simeone has overseen €460m worth of business, in and out, to try and get his preferred striking partnership, which is expected to be Antoine Griezmann and Costa for the second half of the season.

Marca say Gameiro cost Atletico around €37m from Sevilla in the summer 2016 transfer window. They’ll want to get as much of that back as possible, and should Everton oblige in January, then the €460m figure is set to go higher quickly.
