Manor Solomon joined Fiorentina on loan from Tottenham in the January transfer window. A permanent deal is now becoming increasingly likely.
The move to Italy was covered extensively by Sport Witness, as La Viola secured an option to buy the winger.
Since joining, the Israel international has actually impressed, despite not having done too much in his loan deal at Villarreal in the first half of the season. In Serie A, he has scored two goals in nine games, amidst the Florence club’s battle with relegation.
He seems to have impressed quite a few around La Viola, even if he has missed the last four games due to injury.
Now, there is a rising possibility of his permanent exit from Tottenham.
Relegation can dictate everything
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport notes that Fiorentina manager Paolo Vanoli has been satisfied with Manor Solomon.
He has publicly praised him, saying: “He receives the ball and knows what to do. We needed a player with his characteristics, also to vary Gudmundsson and move him a bit further inside.”
It is believed the Tottenham man is adding value to the squad, with La Viola now out of the relegation zone. Solomon enjoys the trust of Fabio Paratici, who was key in the January deal and will be important for a permanent move.
As of now, there is every chance the option to buy of €10m gets triggered. Fiorentina feel it will be completely worth it, considering his performances for the Italian side.
Only in the event of a disastrous relegation would things completely change. If that happens, Vanoli’s side might not even have the finances for the deal. Besides, the 26-year-old is unlikely to be interested in playing in Serie B.
Tottenham need double survival
There is a common narrative between Fiorentina and Tottenham this season, with both ‘big clubs’ battling the drop. The idea of playing in the second-division is not the only motivation for the two clubs to stay up.
Solomon hasn’t been of much use to Spurs since he joined, and money from a permanent exit would suit them. They signed him on a free transfer and his sale would go down as a capital gain.
For Fiorentina, they would secure a reliable player who has clear top-flight experience.
