Having been linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Joshua Zirkzee, it’s clear that Arsenal are going after a striker this summer.

It’s the one piece of the squad they are truly lacking, having previously attempted to sign Dusan Vlahovic before his big move to Juventus.

Corriere dello Sport on Thursday believe Victor Osimhen will also be in the mix for Arsenal, as they briefly look at the situation surrounding the Nigeria international.

The Gunners are the only Premier League club named this time around, although it’s made rather clear others will likely come knocking on Napoli’s door in the summer.

Corriere state that Osimhen ‘will become the subject of desire’ at the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and ‘anyone with economic means outside the norm’.

That will also include clubs from Saudi Arabia, although it seems unlikely the 25-year-old will want to go there at this point in this career, especially with clubs offering Champions League likely in the mix.

That’s something Arsenal will have to offer over a club like Chelsea, often mentioned as an option for the player and even seen as the favourites because of their past connections with Nigerians such as John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses.

On the flip side, the Gunners also have a past with Nigeria internationals, past and present, as both Alex Iwobi and a certain Nwankwo Kanu spent many years in north London.

As for the price, Osimhen has a release clause of €130m, which Aurelio De Laurentiis will very likely want triggered to let his star go.
