Go Ahead Eagles coach René Hake has admitted that his impending move to Manchester United is a no-brainer, and currently at the forefront of his thinking.
The Dutchman has been speaking to Algemeen Dagblad regarding the move to Manchester United, which is now in the final stages.
The newspaper explains that his departure from GA Eagles is now a matter of time as Manchester United have targeted him as part of a renewal of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff.
Hake has been targeted as a replacement for Mitchel van der Gaag, who is leaving Old Trafford after working next to his compatriot since his arrival from Ajax.
Matters have been progressing over this week, with Manchester United preferring to appoint another Dutchman with several years of experience behind him and quickly targeting Hake as a result.
While a deal is yet to be finalised, Hake has returned to work with GA Eagles and was at the club for the beginning of training on Friday morning.
Rather than being a negative atmosphere, though, he was met with handshakes and congratulations, as well as heartfelt applause from club icon Dick Schneider.
Drake has subsequently been asked about the move to Manchester United, and called it a ‘great opportunity’. When asked if it’s a no-brainer, he simply replied “Yes!”.
“It is not in the back of your mind, but in your forehead. It can’t get any crazier, right?” he added when leaving, perhaps for the last time.
