Inter Milan defender Stefan De Vrij has been linked to Premier League clubs for a few years now, and it’s been no different in the past weeks.

Following Antonio Conte’s arrival at Tottenham Hotspur, it’s been claimed that the manager would like to sign some of the players who won Serie A with him last season, and the Dutchman would be one of them.

Now as De Vrij spoke this week to the Netherlands media at the national team camp, he was asked about the rumours, and ended up insisting he’s not aware of such interest.

“I deny,” De Vrij told Ziggo Sport (via Soccer News).

“Because I don’t know anything about anything. The connection may be made a bit quickly, because the coach I worked with is now working there. But I don’t know anything.”

Reports from Italy last week claimed that Inter Milan ‘expect a phone call’ from Tottenham for De Vrij’s summer move very soon.

Since his contract with the Nerazzurri expires in 2023 and there are no signs for a renewal as of now, it’s possible that the club would rather sell him next year than risk losing him for free.

De Vrij was linked to Tottenham even before Conte took over, so the claims continuing is no surprise.
