Earlier this month, Il Mattino reported Chelsea are ready to attack for Napoli star Victor Osimhen. The west London club aren’t alone as Arsenal are also in the picture to sign him.
That’s according to Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, and he made this claim to Rai’s TG Sport, relayed by CalcioNapoli24.
Venerato has provided a short update stating that a ‘duel is expected’ between Arsenal and Chelsea for the 25-year-old’s signature.
He adds the striker is set to leave the Serie A winners after this season and his ‘destiny’ will be in the Premier League.
On December 23rd, the Nigeria international extended his contract until 2026. That didn’t stop him from publicly hinting he could leave the Naples club in the summer. He also hailed the Premier League as one of the best leagues in the world.
Calciomercato relay his latest comments and then explain the conditions that must be fulfilled for him to leave the Italian club.
They claim Osimhen’s new deal has seen him earn €10m per year including bonuses and it includes a €130m release clause.
Calciomercato don’t mention Arsenal, Chelsea or another club, but say a ‘single payment’ of €130m will be enough for interested clubs to sign him. Otherwise, they’ll have to hold talks Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is ‘free to negotiate’ his exit.
Osimhen has managed eight goals and three assists from 18 games this season.
