Football debate is often a divisive enterprise but when it comes to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne, there’s usually very little debate to be had.

It seems, though, you can end up disagreeing on the Belgian superstar if you really want to, with FC Update detailing how Hugo Borst and Jan Boskamp managed to this week.

They explain that the Dutch duo were part of a panel discussing De Bruyne this week after he stole the show in Manchester City’s 4-2 win over Crystal Palace with two goals and an assist.

The midfielder was at his best in the game, leading Pep Guardiola’s side to victory and again earning plaudits for his performance.

Boskamp was one of those full of praise for him, particularly his first goal of the game, a superb curling effort into the top corner to level the scores.

Borst, though, was less impressed, questioning the strike and claiming that “he hits it wrong, doesn’t he? Now look closely”.

That elicited a firm, clear response from Boskamp, who replied “Ahh go away, Hugo!”, who was having none of the claim.

That didn’t stop Borst, who happily continued with his monologue and explained where he was coming from.

“On the far right someone is free. It was just a pass. And then he does this, and claims it too,” which again, Boskamp wasn’t having.

“Have you been drinking or something?” he responded before then seeking out support from Dick Advocaat, who simply uttered a short and sweet “Goddamit.”

Unperturbed, Borst continued by criticising the Manchester City’s star second goal, which Boskamp labelled “a world class action”.

“That one then compensates a bit for the poor of kick of an overrated Belgian footballer. That boy can only do it with good players around him. He would only be a class player if he performed with Belgium once,” he added.

That elicited a ‘deep sigh’ from his counterpart, who it seems had had enough of some weak, dare we say it manufactured, controversy from Borst.
