West Ham United’s small hope of hiring Thomas Tuchel in the summer appears to have been dashed as managing another London club is ‘out of the question’ for the German boss.
That’s according to BILD, who say Tuchel’s love for Chelsea following his time in charge there means he won’t manage the Hammers or any other London club.
Tuchel is set to be on the hunt for a new job in the summer after Bayern Munich announced this week that they would be parting ways at the end of the season.
Speculation has quickly picked up about where he may land next with big clubs such as Liverpool and Barcelona on the hunt for new managers and several other sides potentially changing too.
West Ham are one of them as David Moyes’ contract is set to expire in the summer and is yet to be extended, with a growing belief that those in charge may look elsewhere as fans have become somewhat disillusioned with the Scot despite their success last season.
Tuchel would be a big-name hire for them and a report in Germany yesterday indicated they might have an outside chance of getting him too.
BILD rubbish that today, though, explaining that a move to any other London side is ‘out of the question’ for Tuchel.
He still respects former club Chelsea too much at this moment in time and wouldn’t contemplate joining West Ham, even if they were to make an offer.
And so, it appears that idea, if it had been quietly growing at the London Stadium, can now be put to one side, with the coldest water very much poured on the small flame.
