Brighton & Hove Albion have announced that an agreement has been reached with FC Nordsjælland for the transfer of Ibrahim Osman. The winger has signed a deal until 2029 and will arrive at The Amex in the summer.

The Seagulls one of multiple clubs to have shown interest in the 19-year-old last month. A deal didn’t take shape then but Brighton have now secured an agreement for his arrival after this season.

Nordsjælland director of football operations Phil Radley has told the Danish club’s official website why he’s delighted with Osman’s decision to pick Brighton.

He joined Nordsjælland from Ghanian side Right to Dream Academy in January 2023 and has managed four goals and five assists from 39 matches for them. The youngster had caught the attention of several clubs but Brighton have won the battle.

“At Brighton, Osman will be part of a very well-run club and we are very proud that he’s been given this opportunity – and has chosen to seize it. Especially because Brighton have shown confidence in Osman already now and thus given him the opportunity to continue his development at FCN until the end of this season,” he said.

“In this way, he can come to England in the best possible way this summer and at the same time help us in the Superliga and the cup competition.”

Radley’s colleague and Nordsjælland sporting director Jan Laursen has also shared his delight with Osman’s move to Brighton. He explained the Danish club’s decision to cash in from the teenager’s sale to Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

“We are incredibly proud of this transfer. Partly because it’s one of the biggest ever transfers in the Nordics, but probably just as important because it is another player who has taken the step from the academy to the Superliga and now soon on to the world’s strongest league,” Laursen explained.

“This change has only been made possible through a huge effort by Osman himself.”

The sporting director admitted he would have wanted to keep the attacker for longer and revealed what convinced Nordsjælland to accept Brighton’s proposal.

“Of course, we would have liked to see Osman stay with us even longer than until the end of this season, but we now also know the mechanisms,” he added.

“When the interest becomes so significant from many big clubs, as we have experienced in this transfer window, and when the player sees it as a dream move – combined with the fact that we have met both our financial and not least timing requirements – then we have decided to carry out the transfer.

“At the same time, it’s positive for us as a club to have secured a major transfer early in the year, as it gives us better opportunities to plan and attack the summer window in an even more ambitious way.”
