Over the past few months, Sport Witness have closely covered Guglielmo Vicario’s future at Tottenham.
Inter Milan were initially keen and then the goalkeeper soon attracted interest from Juventus too. It was believed that the 29-year-old is eager for a departure, having been left frustrated by disastrous Spurs season.
Tottenham’s annoyance continued on Thursday, as they suffered a haunting 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace.
Vicario was left largely helpless repeatedly during the match. TuttoSport now have a detailed report about his future in London and are convinced about his decision.
Tottenham player interesting three clubs
The newspaper say that during the loss to Thursday, Vicario ‘teleported a thousand kilometres’ to Turin. This is because he is desperate to join the Old Lady and return to Italy.
It is believed the goalkeeper is ‘drained’ by life at Tottenham and Juve have already made exploratory contact. In addition, Vicario hasn’t quite warmed up to Igor Tudor and that’s adding to his feelings.
There is also interest from Inter and even from AS Roma, who could sign a new goalkeeper in the summer. The Nerazzurri will lose Yann Sommer and the Giallorossi can possibly sell Mile Svilar.
This is the only challenge Juve will face. The Turin newspaper feel Tottenham are already planning to sell Vicario as they are preparing for a major summer rebuild.
The Bianconeri should be able to afford the price tag of about €25m and the player’s wages will also not be a problem.
Our take on Vicario’s Tottenham exit
Vicario has had three seasons at the London side now and in the past few months, his performances have clearly dropped. This came after he showed clear signs of improvement under Ange Postecoglou and his ability on the ball also grew.
That can still help Tottenham possibly make a profit from his sale. They signed him for €20m from Empoli and if they manage to earn over €25m from his exit, it would go down as a capital gain.
Vicario’s contract expires in 2028, which makes 2026 a good time to sell him before his value declines next year.
