Earlier this month, Chelsea were allowed to make signings for the Club World Cup and the window closed on June 10th. The Blues had wanted to add Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens to their squad but were unsuccessful.
Chelsea saw two bids rejected by BVB, who in return requested €65m to sanction the winger’s sale. Last week, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastien Kehl said there will be more talks with the English club for Gittens.
On Tuesday, L’Equipe reported Chelsea have made contact for Malick Fofana and that Lyon are asking for more than €50m.
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report Chelsea have asked about Fofana. He’s one of the names on the winger target list.
Plettenberg claims the UEFA Conference League winners’ ‘main priority’ is still Gittens. He adds they have a verbal agreement in place with the 20-year-old and have to strike a deal with BVB.
The journalist states it’s unclear whether an agreement can be reached between the two clubs because Borussia Dortmund are demanding €65m including bonuses.
Fofana is cheaper that the England U21 international and Chelsea have already made an approach for him.
