Jorge Mendes has left the ‘door open for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ to sign Ansu Fati from Barcelona this summer, but the decision is in the player’s hands.
That’s according to AS, who say the player is something of a ‘hot potato’ for Barcelona to deal with this summer.
Joan Laporta this week made it clear it was up to the sporting side of the club to deal with the number ten, putting Fati’s future in the hands of Xavi and Deco.
The latter has a good relationship with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, who ‘moves him in the market’ and has left the door open for Wolves to sign him.
That, though, isn’t on the cards at the moment as the player’s future is in his own hands and he is refusing to leave the Camp Nou.
He wants to stay and fight for his place in Xavi’s team, despite the club making it clear that they would prefer him to leave.
They are pushing for him to say publicly that he wants to leave so they can get rid of him without a massive backlash from the fanbase, who love the player thanks to him growing up in La Masia, but Fati is yet to do that.
Thus, any potential exit is yet to get going. Mendes is working and would like to send him to Wolves, Barcelona want him out too, but Fati isn’t playing ball and until he decides otherwise, he won’t end up at Molineux or anywhere else this summer.
