Being linked to a Barcelona player is usually quite exciting, even if the rumours sometimes feel a little forced.

Chelsea have recently been the subject of several links with Philippe Coutinho, and judging the Brazilian on his Anfield days it’s certainly not a rumour to be upset about.

However, there’s a claim from Spain on Tuesday which is rather less exciting.

Catalan newspaper Sport believe Chelsea could be an option for Denis Suarez, if Maurizio Sarri remains at the club. It’s explained the Italian manager was a fan of the player whilst in charge at Napoli, and therefore Chelsea’s door ‘can be opened’.

Suarez spent the second half of the season on loan at Arsenal, in a move which proved to be a total waste of time. More effort was put into negotiating the loan than the player was able to show on the pitch, restricted by fitness issues.

Valencia is named as another option, and perhaps that’s more likely.
