Norwich City manager Philippe Clement has been speaking to Belgian media again about his big task at the Championship club.
Earlier this month, Norwich City appointed the 51-year-old as their new coach. He’s managed two matches for the Canaries so far.
Het Nieuwsblad have visited Clement at Norwich City to see how he’s getting on, and managed to have a chat with the manager.
Such is the task at hand, the odds may be against the manager. It’s even been suggested someone like Pep Guardiola couldn’t provide the solutions.
When that was put to Clement, he said: “I don’t want to compare myself to Pep. He’s won everything you can win. But I’m convinced of the project, and I see plenty of potential here.”
Het Nieuwsblad – and many others in Belgium – expected the former Rangers manager to join a ‘more prestigious club’ than Norwich City.
Responding to that, Clement explained: “I understand you’re thinking that way, but I’m not afraid of a challenge and I see a lot of potential here. Although there’s also a lot of work to be done.”
Last week, Clement’s assistant at Norwich City, Stephan Van Der Heyden, explained the new coaching team has already identified several issues at the English club. They are currently 23rd in the table with 10 points after 17 matches.
Philippe Clement is experienced enough to know what he’s got himself into. He clearly feels he can succeed, and has been influenced by what the owners have told him.
