Tottenham Hotspur‘s Luka Vušković says it’s impossible for him to return to Hamburg SV next season.

Tottenham let the Croatia international spend this season on loan at the Bundesliga side and he starred for them.

His brother, Mario, is at Hamburg and is serving a doping ban until November. The 19-year-old has already expressed his desire to play with Mario at the German club.

On April 4th, the Spurs owned player reiterated his dream of playing alongside his brother either to Hamburg or elsewhere.

Tottenham man responds to rumours

Earlier this week, claims from the UK stated the Premier League side want to renew his contract and send him back on loan to Hamburg.

On Friday, Sport Witness relayed news dismissing the possibility of Luka Vušković’s return to the German club.

However, Tottenham Hotspur want to offer him an improved deal and he could either sign an extension or join a top club this summer.

The centre-back is with the national team, preparing for the World Cup in June. This gave Dnevnik Nova TV an opportunity to speak to him.

Journalist Stipe Antonijević asks the defender about the latest claims of Spurs wanting to offer him an extension and then loan him to Hamburg.

“That would be a dream, and a dream come true for me, but it’s hardly possible. I don’t know what else to say, other than, impossible,” he said.

As things stand, the defender will return to the north London club after the World Cup.

When asked whether he’s motivated after a successful season at Hamburg, Vušković explained: “Honestly, I haven’t thought about it yet, I’m just focused on the World Cup.”

The Croatian, however, fancies working under Roberto De Zerbi.

“Yes, I think he’s a top coach, he loves to play, he loves the build-up, I really like that. I hope we’ll do well in the future,” he added.

Antonijević immediately points out that won’t be possible if he were to join a big club.

“I don’t know, for now I’m a Tottenham player, whatever happens, will happen,” Vušković said.

Our take: Spurs man keeping all options open

Luka Vušković’s contract at Tottenham Hotspur expires in 2030, and Transfermarkt value him at €60m.

His latest comments indicate he doesn’t want to close the door on moving to a big club or a return to Hamburg. If none of this works out, the defender will be happy to stay at Spurs.
