When Radu Dragusin’s agent recently made it public that the player accepted less money from Tottenham Hotspur than he’d make at Bayern Munich, he also announced how much he would be earning.
It was said that the defender is set to earn €3m per season at the London club, and that seems to have caused some surprise in the Romanian press.
Outlet Adevarul today features a story showing the salary of many other Tottenham players, with newly signed Timo Werner making over three times as that.
The website also brings some comments made by pundits at Orange Sport. One of them was Basab Panduru, who claimed that Dragusin made a bad deal with Tottenham.
“When Tottenham and Bayern are fighting over you, and the lowest wage is 10 million at Bayern, and you ask for €3m, there’s a problem. You don’t know how to negotiate. You have a problem. He should have €5m, if you can’t get €2-3m. Never! At least €5m. There are two teams that pay through the nose. How can I have this salary? Because Tottenham wants me to? No, you pay what I want. The agent has to fight for it, to get the big salary.”
Florin Lovin, however, claimed that the player wasn’t in such a big position to demand too much money from Spurs.
“You can’t take the risk of asking for €10m. Nobody’s giving that. I don’t think he’s a player who, at the age he is, from the team he comes from, should ask for so much money.”
Dragusin’s transfer from Genoa from Tottenham is still to be announced, but given how much his agent has spoken in the last couple of days, it’s clear that Spurs are nearly ready to make the 21-year-old’s signing official.
