Bought from Sporting in 2017, Ezequiel Schelotto made 23 appearances in all competitions for Brighton & Hove Albion in his debut season.
However, he failed to feature for the Seagulls in the first half of the 2018/19 season and a lack of opportunities with the Premier League side saw him join Chievo on loan in January 2019.
Having returned to his parent club, the 30-year-old made eight appearances in the league (only four starts) under Graham Potter’s guidance. The former Inter Milan man’s existing deal with Brighton will expire in the summer.
Passion Inter interviewed Schelotto and during the course of the discussion, they asked him about his future.
He said: “This year I played many games, with a great desire to be always available. I still don’t know if I will renew the contract. It is still early, in three months I will be free, if Brighton won’t offer me an extension.
“I am relaxed, not nervous, as long as I wear this shirt, I will give everything.”
Schelotto, who can feature in any position on the right side of the pitch, spent his youth days with Argentinean side Vélez Sársfield.
When asked if he would consider returning to Vélez, Schelotto said: “All my family supports them, we were born near the stadium. I did a couple of seasons there, at 8-9 years old. In this period, it is difficult to return, I prefer to stay in the Premier League.”
The player also stressed several factors need to be considered before taking a decision on his future.
“I am a guy who does not like to discard anything regardless. Today I have been married for more than 5 years, I have a daughter of 3, I cannot decide all by myself,” Schelotto explained.
“When I decided to go to Inter, yes, but today I have a family. They are fine here, then in life you never know. I am fortunate to have a wife who has always accompanied me, as well as my parents before.”
